Our Story
GoldWeight Appraisal was established in 2018 on the South Side of Chicago by DaShawn Weaver-Drew, SRA to provide thorough, competent valuations with a friendly, customer driven approach. DaShawn believes that appraisal transactions should be as hassle-free and convenient as possible for the client and emphasizes that GoldWeight be operated on the pillars of personable client service, open and honest communication, and well-written and researched valuation work.
The company is named after the ancient gold measuring system developed by the Akan people of Ghana, who dealt and traded in gold extensively. Known to Western society as Gold Weights but known by the Akan as Mrammou, these brass weights were used to set standard units of measuring gold, which ensured fair and regulated valuation for all parties involved in the trade and acquisition of gold.
